Abbie Ashton, LMFT
As a family systems therapist I recognize the importance of viewing a person in their context to not only bring individual healing, but also promote healthy relationships as a way to maintain these individual changes. As a child therapist my goal is to help the child on an interpersonal level, while strengthening their relationship with the people who will continue to help them as they mature, their parents. On an individual basis I use a client-centered, integrative approach that emphasizes one's strengths while providing tools and education to reach one's goals.
My objective is to meet client’s where they are at and come alongside them. I have extensive experience working with children coming from the foster care and adoption system. Additionally, I have experience with adults and children dealing with trauma, abuse, neglect, anxiety and depression. I have a background in mental health crisis situations and resource development, with six years of work in the mental health system.
I received my Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fuller Seminary and my Bachelor's in Behavioral Health from Arizona Christian University. My education includes: Attachment therapy, Play therapy, Bruce Perry's Child Trauma Academy Neurosequential Model, Trauma Focused CBT, Sand Tray Therapy, and EMDR certified. I am also a member of EMDRA and AAMFT.
