Angie Hatch, LPC/ CSAT / Psychotherapist/ Supervisor
As early as a teen, I recognized I was drawn to the field of Psychology. However, it wasn’t until I experienced my own life changing circumstances and healing, did I find the courage and motivation to go after that goal. What I’ve discovered is that our largest growth can result from those painful and hard things. Sometimes we just need the help to get unstuck. As we heal, the beliefs we have about ourselves change and we become who we are truly meant to be. I feel honored to be with you in your struggle and I recognize the courage and vulnerability it takes to share your story.
Growing up in the military and living in Europe for 9 of those years, I learned resilience and how to adapt to life changes. I graduated early from high school and went on to attend Brigham Young University-Idaho, where I earned an Associate degree in Psychology. I was married young and then earned my Bachelor in Business Marketing from Arizona State. Three children and 11 years later, I faced unforeseen life changes which led me to my career as a Therapist. I earned my Master of Science in Professional Counseling from Ottawa University and started over. Out of all the schooling and education I’ve gained, my BEST education was my own personal work. I love the quote by Pema Chödrön, “Compassion is not a relationship between the healer and the wounded. It’s a relationship between equals. Only when we know our own darkness well can we be present with the darkness of others. Compassion becomes real when we recognize our shared humanity.”
I completed my internship with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, where I worked with Trauma, PTSD, and Sexual Trauma. I was fortunate to be trained in treatment modalities such as Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Shame Resilience.
After graduation in 2011, I have been working at Family Strategies Counseling Center as a Licensed Professional Counselor, where I specialize in Betrayal and Relational Trauma. I am a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) and work with an experienced team of Therapists with the SABR program. In 2015, I became a Supervisor at Family Strategies Counseling Center.
When I’m not working, I’m busy loving on my husband and our 6 great kids! And, with 4 of them being teenage girls, there is no shortage of laughter or tears at any moment in our home! My self-care favorites are traveling with my husband, seeing movies when they come out, hiking, scuba diving, sharing good travel deals, and anything water or beach related!
Angie also is the provider for the Shame Resiliency groups.
