Debbie McRae / Intern
“If we can share our story with someone who responds with empathy and understanding, shame can't survive.” Brene’ Brown
Debbie McRae is excited to be part of the Family Strategies Counseling Center as an intern psychotherapist. Debbie received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Arizona State University and is currently enrolled in Ottawa University’s Master of Arts in Professional Counseling Program. For the past 5 years Debbie has worked as a certified Life Coach, Skills for Life facilitator, clinically trained hypnotherapist, and certified RET therapist (rapid eye processing).
Using a holistic and integrative therapeutic approach, Debbie works with adolescents and adults who want to heal from abuse trauma, addictions, anxiety and depression, betrayal trauma, codependency, and life transitions such as divorce, remarriage, and blended families. Debbie assists clients with their healing by using mindfulness based cognitive therapy, psychoeducation, guided therapeutic imagery, rapid eye desensitization (RET), narrative therapy, and positive psychotherapy.
In her down time, Debbie enjoys spending time with her grandkids, traveling to out of the way places, eating chocolate, and riding on the back of her husband’s motorcycle.
