Unexpected problems confront families, individuals and youth on a daily basis. Sometimes problems have been escalating over a longer period of time without an obvious solution. The suffering this can generate may be overwhelming. Relationships and personal standards may begin to crumble. Frequently these issues are embarrassing or too difficult to verbalize. Our mission is to guide families and individuals toward solutions.We provide expert counseling services using a specialized team of therapists to help sort through the confusion and suffering. We have many years of experience with many different mental health issues. Our services include individual therapy for adults, youth and children, as well as group and family therapy. Our therapists are trained within various specialties. An individual treatment plan is developed and written for every client scenario. Family Strategies Counseling Center is a licensed Outpatient Treatment Center (OTC-6492) by the Arizona Department of Health Services Medical Licensing Division. We are an approved graduate internship site for the following universities: Ottawa University, Northern Arizona University, Fuller Seminary, University of Phoenix, and BYU Idaho. Additionally, our supervisors are approved by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health to provide clinical supervision for the licensing of therapists. Family Strategies Counseling Center is also contracted with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona as a PPO “Outpatient Behavioral Health Facility.”
Floyd Godfrey is the Executive Director of Family Strategies Counseling Center, and a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Arizona. He is also an approved supervisor since 2004 by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health. He received his education from Arizona State University, and his graduate education from Ottawa University. He worked for eight years with the City of Tempe Social Services, as a supervisor and assisting school-age children and their families. He has worked in a variety of mental health settings both as a professional and within church ministry.
Floyd is also the Executive Board Member of the Foundation for Healthy Living, a non-profit organization that provides financial support and programming to those who need mental health services. He is the Director of LifeSTAR (Mesa), a clinical intervention for men with sexual addiction in Mesa Arizona (and their wives), and also the Band of Brothers program, a clinical intervention for adolescent boys with sexual compulsions. He is a member of SASH (Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health), A CSAT candidate (Certified Sex Addiction Therapist), and also the AACC (American Association of Christian Counselors). He trains and supervises clinical staff and university interns. He also works part-time within the agency to provide individual counseling for adults, youth and families. He is available for speaking engagements within the community on a variety of mental health topics.
